“Have just a taste, you may like it…” is something we say to kids when they’re too scared to try new foods. *cue the Daniel Tiger song*
A disclaimer, I use simplifying and minimalizing interchangeably because in my brain they go hand in hand.
Personally, I believe that we make things too complicated. That the best solution is always the simplest. I’m sure we’ve all heard of KISS (keep it simple stupid) and I KNOW this can translate into our minimalism journey.

My “just a taste” movement happened when I examined my laundry situation. If you have kids, you know how many clothes they go through on a never-ending day.
I was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of it. Add in my clothes, towels, sheets, and miscellaneous items, I was doing loads that took forever to dry because they were so overpacked.
One day, I decided I had enough and things were going to change. My change?
Running a manageable load every day (… or every few days) rather than just on one long strenuous day. And… what a life changer that’s been!
Having an informal laundry “schedule” helps with simplifying my life. My “schedule” goes loosely like this….

Thankfully, my husband does his own clothes after the now-infamous-tee shirt-shrinking of 2012; but if you do yours, add them to the schedule!
Here’s the kicker, adopting this method has shown me that…
#1- my kids wear the same clothes repeatedly (and usually what’s on top)
#2- I do the same.
Hmmm… are you seeing what I saw? When we have our favorites, or “uniforms”, we can get rid of some of the clothing we don’t ever wear.
Do you see how simplifying one aspect of your life can guide you to the areas to minimalize? *mind blown*
Your “just a taste” may be as simple as putting the dishes away first thing in the morning to keep your sink empty throughout the day. Or, picking up your family room before you go to bed, so you come down to a fresh start to your day.
I once read something that said (loosely) “if something will take you less than 2 minutes to do, just do it.” I cannot remember where I heard that, but it makes a ton of sense and a huge difference.
So, my task for you this week is to figure out your “just a taste”; a minor thing that would make a HUGE difference and do it!
