Relight Your Mind + Spirit | Nov-Ember Challenge

The world asks us to be constantly “on”. Always responding, scrolling endlessly, and doing everything. But somewhere beneath all that noise, your inner voice is still whispering. This week, we turn inward.

Rekindling your mind and spirit isn’t about striving for peace but it’s about remembering it’s already within you. By creating intentional pauses and mindful practices, you invite your inner world to realign with your values, your energy, and your truth.

When your inner world is strong and grounded, the outer world becomes easier to manage and handle. This week is about connection, not reaction.

Here are the first 7 actions you can do this upcoming week to relight the spark in your mind and spirit with minimal to no added effort on your part.

Set an Intention

You have the best of intentions, yet life somehow manages to knock you off your feet sometimes. While we can’t account for solving all the stressors of life, we can control our reactions to them.

This week, set an intention with yourself. Perhaps it’s not responding to a triggering text or email right away. Maybe it’s deciding to get “dressed” every week in actual clothes. Something that seems minor and trivial, isn’t minor after all.

Watch how your week sets off on a different note. Notice how one minor shift impacts your mental life and uplifts your spirit. When you notice the changes, perhaps this is something you can take with you into your next month and season.

Power of Quiet

This is probably one of my favorite ones. We move in a fast paced and LOUD society. Notifications always dinging, noise in the background, the neighbor’s dog barking ( my experience). If you could turn all the noise off, would you?

Few are comfortable in quiet. Today, I’d challenge you to turn down the noise – literally + figuratively). Turn off your notifications. Try to engage in a quiet evening- no tv or background noise. Stillness can clear the space for your insight to return to you naturally.

Reconnect with Awe

Remember when you were younger and everything was freaking awesome?! When did you lose those rose-colored glasses?

This isn’t about ignoring the ugly. There’s plenty of that in the world. But, what happens when you stop focusing and ruminating about unsettling things and turn your attention to capturing the beauty in this one life you get?

Look at the sky – what a color show. Look at your kids – they’re only this age once. Focus on how beautiful the life you created is. Reconnecting with your “awe” connects you to something larger than yourself.

“While everyday may not be good, there is good in everyday.”

Words Hold Power

Are you one of those people that has an inner dialogue? How you speak to yourself and others have power. They have the power to rise you up or cut you down. This reminder is to notice how you speak to yourself and others.

Notice when your inner dialogue is cruel. Learn to soften it. Replace the “I should” phrase with “I can” or “I will”. Your mind believes the words you feed it. For others, stop allowing them to get a reaction out of you. Once the words you are thinking are out, they can be used against you or could hurt another.

Becoming less reactionary has been something I’ve personally worked on for years. It’s a challenging, long-term goal for sure. But at the end of the day, we need to remember that people are just people. We all have our own baggage and things going on in our lives that no one else knows about. Offering a little grace instead of adding to the dialogue is a valiant thing to do.

Month of Gratitude

Yes, November has become the month of “gratitude”. I’d argue as to why we focus on it only one month out of the year. Finding small things in the everyday to be thankful for is something needed. It pulls you down into the present, allows you to feel something.

This week, write down (or think about) 3 small things each day that makes you feel seen, supported, or at peace. Doesn’t have to be a big production. If you feel inclined, share it. If not, keep it private for your eyes and soul to capture.

Info Overload Incoming

Our world is always vying for attention. The latest news story, the terrible thing that happened today, and politics that divide.

It’s imperative that you learn to protect your attention. Don’t allow yourself to be ever-connected. You don’t need to know everything that’s going on in the world.

It’s okay to step away for a while. Skip the doom scroll, set a screen-free time, and go on a “fast”. I bet that you’ll find the world is better than you expected it to be off screen.

And day 7…. Protect Your Peace

The holiday season brings joy, but it can also bring the drama. As someone who runs far away from all the drama I can here’s what I’ve learned: Say no when you mean no. Step away from conversations that drain you. Boundaries is not a dirty word. You’re not going to change anyone’s mind over mashed potatoes.

You’re an adult. You have the capability of leaving an event or deciding not to do something. Stand by your choices and know that you have the right to feel whatever you feel. Boundaries are a form of spiritual hygiene. When you ignore your inner voice, you’re really doing yourself a disservice.

Now this isn’t about going out and causing more drama, utilize the methods from this week. This holiday season doesn’t need to be complicated or a time to “go deep”. If you find yourself getting angry or overwhelmed, it’s time for you to use your emotional intelligence and take a breather. Because at the end of the day, you decide what’s right for you.

As you move through this week, notice what brings you back to yourself. Mindfulness isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about coming home, over and over, in the quiet ways that only you can.

Next week, we’ll shift from the inner world to the physical — rekindling your body through rest, movement, and nurturing habits that help energy flow again.

If you’re following along with the Nov-Ember Challenge, you can revisit the last 2 week’s (Relight Your Space + Relight The Season) post to continue layering these practices. If you’re craving a deeper reset, the Simply Tamed Life Workbook pairs beautifully here — guiding you to explore your values, intuition, and purpose with gentle structure.
