Thoughtful + Minimal Christmas | For Him

Men aren’t picky, but aren’t they?

It’s been my experience that while they say that they don’t know what they want or are fine with anything, they are not. They like what they like and their interests are wide. From golf to beer to bourbon, there’s never anything that they wouldn’t be thrilled to get (unless they already have it).

Here are 10 categories and gifts for all the men on your list.

1. Beer lovers unite

For those who enjoy a cold one at the end of the day, the Fizzics beer dispenser makes a bottle beer taste like draft with a simple pull of the lever.

For the man that makes fun of your Stanley (iykyk), grab him a Stanley beer stein and Stanley growler so he can join in the fun.

If he drinks at home and misses the games that the bar/brewery have to offer, get him the ring and hook game to occupy him.

And lastly, doesn’t every man (or most men) want to be a viking? This horn mug will make them feel like they’re the real deal.

2. All things Gaming + Superhero

I can guarantee anyone you are shopping for doesn’t have the back from the vault of “retro” – an R2-D2 TAMAGOTCHI. Remember trying to keep your critters alive in 1997? Ah, the good ol’ days.

Who doesn’t love cool gadgets and ones that are functional… even better! This levitation bluetooth speaker will leave the receiver in awe. How does it do it?! So cool and definitely unique.

Do you know of someone that loves to display their collection? All things Star Wars, Marvel, etc. They’ll love this lego Darth Vader and Infinity Gauntlet. Legos not their thing? All good- these Star Wars helmets are pretty wicked (and on my husbands list).

The last would be a great game for kids + teens to get involved too – a virtual reality headset! No control needed which makes storing a breeze! Our friends’ son has this one and he loves it- 11 year old approved.

3. To the Executive or man that travels often…

Ever notice that all the men at the airport look similarly with their carry on’s and bags? It’s kind of funny to notice and now you will if you haven’t before. If this sounds like the man you’re buying for, there’s a huge opportunity for you! He’ll love opening all of these showstoppers and stand out from the crowd.

Carry on’s and luggage are a no-fail gift. This beautiful matte black square hardside luggage is stunning and comes with inner organizers. If he’s more of a leather man, this travel bag is gorgeousssss. For a backpack wearer, this modern one is functional yet showstopping.

Any one else’s man use plastic baggies still for their toiletries? Ha, you know what I’m talking about. This toiletry bag is the solution to that situation.

Shopping for the man that loves cool gadgets on their desk to feel (or be) an Executive? This Hoverpen is pretty wicked and definitely unique!

4. For the Active guys that like to get and stay healthy!

My husband got a cold plunge tank last year for himself and he LOVES it. A year later and you can find him every morning in it for 3-10 minutes (depends on the water temp- shorter for colder, etc) I was at first hesitant because I didn’t want it to increase our water bill (that I pay for) and surprisingly, it hasn’t all. I even jump into the frigid waters every now and again and it’s really, really nice I must admit. Now you can DIY one; however my husband is pretty big and likely wouldn’t fit in a trash can. 🙂 So he got an inflatable one. There are great options for inflatables: #1 the Cold Pod & #2 the NAICID plunge. I will say that you’ll need a few things to keep it up- a cover for the tank and hot tub chlorine to keep the mold/algae at bay.

My husband is not a watch guy. He doesn’t like the Apple watches nor the Fitbit; however this Garmin watch is pretty rugged and tactical that he may change his tune. Even better, it’s currently on a Black Friday deal too!

5. The Grill-Master : he can sling a burger like no other and makes a mean steak

Now, the grill is a piece of sacred machinery. Some men are pellet people; some are traditional or gas; and others are solid surface area lovers. You know what I’m talking about right? My husband bought himself (!) a Pit Boss last year and dude wants to smoke and grill everything now. *no complaints here*. (Hint: Also on a Black Friday sale as of today!)

However, it would be so nice to have a Blackstone too.. hibachi… pancakes… the list is endless. We have friends that love theirs and cook up a storm! You’ll have to know the preferences of said man on your list as to how they prefer to grill.

One thing is for sure though… all meats need a thermometer. Don’t be eating raw meat around here.

And last item- looking for a stocking stuffer? These Santa Claws- Meat Claws are funny and functional!

6. The Outdoor Enthusiast

Spending time in the outdoors is wonderful and everyone should be doing it. Frankly, my favorite time is around a fire with a beverage, a blanket and friends. BUT I hate smelling like smoke afterward and having to wash my hair before bed (iykyk). The Solo Stove solves that problem and for that I’m grateful.

We lose power at our house quite often… eek. This solar panel portable power station would be so beneficial for hunting, camping, and power outages.

This survival/emergency set comes in it’s own waterproof storage box and has everything needed to solve the smallest (and biggest) emergencies while out.

Some stocking stuffers (because who doesn’t love all the cool survival gadgets)– This waterproof lighter makes camp-fire starting easy. Having an underinflated tire while biking/camping would be horrible, this pocket inflator does it all- cars, bikes, even balls. And lastly, these wicked flashlight gloves are so bright they wouldn’t need help “holding the flashlight” when tinkering.

7. The Bourbon Connoisseur

Ah, the hunt for the perfect, rare bottle is something most men thrive on. Did you know there’s Instagram accounts for that? No joke! If you have a man that likes to imbibe on a nice glass of the brown stuff, you have many options, but here’s what you don’t do.

Don’t buy them books or logs about bourbon- they’ll collect dust. Do find them a bottle not in their collection yet or their favorite. Do ask around- friends have connections to rare bottles through a friend of a friend….

If you’re experience driven like yours truly, a weekend trip to Kentucky you go! There are soooo many good places to go and best part? It’s not that expensive to do. Maybe I should write up our trips from Kentucky in the future. For now, I’d recommend going to Lexington and adventuring from there. See some horses and farms, there are breweries and cideries too (if you get sick of bourbon) and cool shops and sight seeing.

8. The Big Game Guy

GOOOO sports! haha. In all seriousness, don’t you think that the man in your life would prefer a sporting event -or- even season tickets to their favorite team?! Yes.. yes, they would. Beauty is now season tickets don’t have to be the entire season- typically they can be split into different game packages. It’s worth a shot! I can tell you that my husband would give up everything for Cleveland Browns season tickets.

9. Take a class -or- do an event together!

The options for classes are endless, but here are a few ideas to get your brain moving: knife skills, curling, skeet shooting, grilling/cooking, iron welding, mixology, beer making, fly fishing, workout, archery, etc.

Make a date of it and have fun doing it!

10. Here it is again… Gift cards

I know… I know.. but this is not the easy way out this year! Again options are endless. They’d much rather get a gift card for Cabela’s or a store they like than have to return anything (trust me on that one). GAS cards, GROCERY cards, lottery tickets (for fun), a Costco/Sam’s club membership, paying for a gym membership, etc… They’ll be happy with any of those options and will actually use it.

Men do so much for others that they also deserve to have a nice holiday season. They’ll be happy with anything that you get them when they know that you personalized it for them, strictly for them. When in doubt, ask. Ask if they already have such and such planned, or gauge how many times they did something last year to see if it’s worth it. Don’t give them junk as it will be donated or thrown out.

Keep it simple, don’t overthink it, and personalize.
