Small Habits, Big Impact | 7 Simple Shifts

Wouldn’t it be amazing to turn your life around with small, simple habits?

The truth is, you can! With a few easy tweaks, you can set yourself up for success in all areas of your life.

Here, I’m diving into seven key habits that can help you thrive—whether it’s through goal-setting, mindset shifts, or personal growth.

And the best part? These habits aren’t overwhelming; they’re small actions that can easily become part of your daily routine that lead to lasting, powerful results.

1. Take Stock of your Life

While I don’t agree with the question Where will you be in 5 years?” I do believe that we can set an internal expectation of “How we want to be“.

Bottom line, where we’re at will likely change as that’s how life flows, but when we think about how we want our lives to be, we can take small steps to become those adjectives.

How do you do that?

I always start with one small one. A small win up-front will give you the happy momentum to continue!

Take a moment to reflect on the areas of the life that you’re doing well in and some areas where you’d like to see a change.

Write down (or make a note on your phone) with what actions need to be taken to achieve the life you’re dreaming of.

Start with an obtainable one and go on from there!

2. Declutter Your Space (& Mind)

A cluttered environment leads to a cluttered mind.

I don’t know about you but I cannot even think when I’m surrounded by a mess. My brain goes into a frenzy and won’t function.

While perfection & minimalism aren’t necessary, keeping the areas you use most clean and organized can make a HUGE difference.

Start small—focus on one area like your desk, kitchen, or living room.

Clearing out clutter helps you create a calming space that makes it easier to focus and relax.

3. Meditate every Morning

One of the best ways to reduce stress and find mental clarity is through meditation.

Hang with me here.

As someone who’s brain is going a million miles an hour internally with ADHD & anxiety, I needed an outlet. Everyone on the internet pointed to meditation and I scoffed at that tip.

Until one day, I tried 1 minute of it.

JUST one minute. That’s all I could sit for.

So I kept up with that minute for endless months, then one day, one minute wasn’t enough. Then, I added two. Then, went to four. Now… I’m at 10 minutes a day!

This, my friends, is the best way I’ve found for my brain. And, it’s free!

Youtube has endless videos – find a voice you find soothing. I like the Boho Beautiful Yoga sessions. Her voice is so soothing to me.

If you’re new to the practice, start with a guided session. Over time you’ll find that you can prompt yourself without needing a guide.

Adding a quick meditation practice into your daily routine will make you more resilient when life gets challenging, helping you maintain breathing and clarity in all situations.

Start small and see how it impacts you.

4. Shift to Think Positively

It’s easy to get stuck in negativity, but positive thinking can completely reshape how you approach life.

Start by writing down one positive thought each day—it can be small but meaningful. Over time, you’ll retrain your brain to focus on the good.

As you make positivity a habit, you’ll notice your mindset shift. You’ll see challenges as opportunities, and your outlook on life will naturally become more optimistic.

5. Get Good Sleep with a Personalized Routine

Good sleep is essential for both your physical and mental well-being.

Setting a consistent sleep schedule can do wonders for your energy and focus.

Yes, I know – this is probably the hardest one to do in this list.

As a Mom of 2, I understand that post bedtime, you want to stay up late and savor the quiet. Maybe read some chapters of the book that’s been on your nightstand for a year.

I’ll tell you – I was doing this. Staying up far too late and it never failed that I’d be grumpy in the morning because someone decided 6am was a good time to start the day. Sound familiar?

Being a Mom is hard, truth. In the spirit of realness, some times we bring the hard upon ourselves.

Instead of staying up way past your kids bedtime, try going up, reading a chapter (or two), turn off the light and do a body scan as you drift off.

I think you’ll find that making a routine that works for you and one that you’re excited to do will change your days for the better!

6. Give Genuine Compliments: Build Stronger Connections

Offering sincere compliments is a small act that can have a big impact on your relationships.

When you uplift others, you create deeper connections and build goodwill, whether in personal or professional spaces.

Remember, success often comes from collaboration and support, so fostering strong, positive relationships is key to long-term success.

7. Commit to Lifelong Learning

Continuously learning and growing is one of the best habits for long-term successes.

Whether it’s through a hobby, advancing your career, or personal development, staying curious keeps you adaptable and ready for new opportunities.

Start small—watch a tutorial, read a book, or take an online course.

I have several friends that are enjoying learning the piano and others that read.

I taught myself how to knit (still learning..) from YouTube videos and it’s cathartic.

In whatever medium suits you and your life, learning something new keeps your mind sharp and gives you a fresh perspective on whatever challenges come your way.
